An eight sided card as opposed to the traditional four. Just attach a card inside another by punching holes along the edge and tying a pretty bow to hold them together. Fill the pages with pleasant memories.
Take a large wooden board. Cover it with some nice paper. Recycled paper is an option. Paste a number of folded sheets in nice colours on it randomly. Write something for the giftee inside each.

Suraj Nalin:Hi everyone! My dad just got promoted and I want to give him a nice card. Can someone suggest what I can write inside? I’ve tried to think of what I could write, but I’m not very good at this :( ..So if someone has any suggestions, they’re most welcome.

The classic way: Turn off all lights. Aromatic candles softly lighting the room. Specially prepared dinner with champagne. Romantic songs playing in the background. Traditional, yet Romantic.

Use your talents. If it's working with wood, make a small paper weight. If it's cooking, make the giftee a well thought out dinner. If it's singing, sing for the giftee. If it's sketching, make a sketch of the giftee. If it's writing, write a poem. Possibilities are immense!

She’s a working woman and stays out of the house most of the time, and Sundays are the only days she’s off. Her birthday is falling on a weekday so I don’t think we’ll be able to celebrate it. Go Green - say no to traditional wrapping paper, use recycled paper instead. It looks better, and you save the environment.
Place the gift at the center of the wrapping paper. Roll paper all around and then clump paper at the edges so as to get something resembling a toffee. Tie ribbons on both sides to secure the look. Easy yet fun.
